Cardio, Weights, and Diet

I've been focused on cardiovascular exercise for losing weight. I was afraid of gaining pounds and mass by lifting weights. BUT, since putting weight training into my exercise routine I've been able to cut weight faster and more effectively. I'm seeing bigger changes in my mid-section and the fat seems to melt away. Sure, I'm not losing weight as fast, but the weight I am losing is fat - not muscle. I would rather lose 5 lbs. of fat than 10 lbs. of fat and muscle. The weight loss needs to be healthy and sustainable, not just a temporary adjustment.

I've talked with people and their experiences on diets. Some have expressed their frustration with "no carb" diets and the rapid gaining of weight as soon as they start eating carbs again. In my opinion, that isn't sustainable and a long term solution. I'm researching and learning as much as I can to make sure this is a life change, not a short term contest diet.

If anyone has suggestions or ideas, I welcome all input!
